Join Americas Quarterly in New York on January 15 for a conversation between AQ Editor-in-Chief Brian Winter and Alex Cuadros, author of When We Sold God’s Eye: Diamonds, Murder, and a Clash of Worlds in the Amazon (Grand Central Publishing, December 2024). In his latest book, Cuadros tells the unbelievable true story of the Cinta Larga, a tribe that had no contact with the outside world until the 1960s and came to run an illegal diamond mine in the Amazon.

Alex Cuadros is the author of Brazillionaires: Wealth, Power, Decadence, and Hope in an American Country, which was long-listed for the Financial Times Business Book of the Year award.
