U.S. Southern Command is the military organization responsible to the Secretary of Defense for U.S. security interests in Central and South America and the Caribbean. The organization comprises military and civilian personnel representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and other federal agencies. Although its headquarters is in Miami, Southern Command’s greater organization functions from several component locations throughout Florida, the U.S. and Latin America and the Caribbean.
